When we set out to design the perfect golf shoe, we wanted classic styling, a little flair, and of course great performance. The last of these comes down to a few factors: comfort and water-proofing for long walks in a range of weather, stability when swinging, and of course traction. To deliver all of these well, which our customers tell us we are, we focused on the creation of a great sole. So what makes our sole great?

Our soles are comprised of three layers: a foam sockliner/insole, an EVA midsole, and a pink rubber outsole with its seemingly aggressive 9mm rubber tread pattern. I say "seemingly aggressive" because despite the fact there is a lot of chatter in forums (from players who haven't tried Heathlanders) about how this sole must damage tees and greens, it absolutely does not. It provides great traction (and great comfort) but causes no damage because it isn't made of a hard plastic or EVA but rather of an actual soft rubber. This rubber provides more cushion under foot than our competitors shoes but without doing any harm. I play at a beautifully maintained Top-100 golf course, as do many of our customers, and we haven't had a single complaint of any harm being caused by them or any of their meticulous superintendents. In fact, one of our customers is a renowned course architect by the name of Rob Collins and his words were music to our ears: “I love my Heathlander shoes. The tread provides better traction than any of my other golf shoes, but leaves no damage to the greens at Sweetens Cove.”

So, I'd urge anyone seeking more comfort and grip to give them a go. We think you'll love them.
